Peter and I cannot say enough good things about Claudio and Roberta Latanza. Following our purchase of the Camden Maine Stay Inn in February, the Latanzas stayed in town for a while and trained us on innkeeping. Neither Peter nor I have any prior hospitality experience, other than waiting tables in high school and college. However, we share a love of entertaining and a dedication to serving people that we hope will compensate for our lack of experience. You can read more about us here.
While the Latanzas were still in Maine, we welcomed our first guests during the Camden Conference and made it through the weekend with what we think were flying colors! Since then, Peter generally has been operating solo in Camden – although he has one of our cats, Sandy, with him for company – while I have been in Memphis looking after two of our daughters who are in high school. I have been racking up the frequent flyer miles traveling from Memphis to Camden, however, because I want to keep my finger in the pie as well!
The Latanzas left the Inn in fantastic condition, and we are extremely grateful for that. In the last three months, we have been busy moving furniture, painting walls, hanging artwork and, of course, welcoming guests! The Inn’s repeat guests might notice a few changes here and there as we begin to make it our home, but all in all, the Camden Maine Stay Inn remains the same: a beautiful, historic and romantic Inn. We invite you to see for yourself!
My grandmother’s glass front cabinet has a new home and purpose displaying our gift shop items.
Joe Duffy’s antique White Mountain icebox fits quite well in our dining room.
The den now houses a little bit of Tennessee and Texas in the midst of Maine!
