Mid-Coast Maine is a popular summer vacation destination thanks to the area’s mild weather. Toward the end of May, the daily high temperature is 64°F with sunshine! These are the perfect conditions for enjoying an afternoon reading a book in our park-like garden or hiking nearby nature trails. Whether you want to use your long weekend to relax or explore, Mid-Coast Maine is a great destination for either option!
If you prefer to spend your trip exploring, head to Camden Hills State Park for a day of hiking. This Maine state park is best known for the Mount Battie Trail. his 1.1-mile trail boasts some of the best views around! Hikers who reach the summit of Mount Battie can enjoy panoramic views of the town of Camden as well as the Penobscot Bay. At the summit, you’ll understand why our area is known as where “the mountains meet the sea”.
2. Indulge in American Cuisine
No patriotic holiday would be complete without indulging in American cuisine. While other parts of the United States associate American cuisine with burgers and barbeque, we have a different idea of what it means to eat American.
In Mid-Coast Maine, the lobster roll is our favorite American dish! This decadent sandwich originated in Milford, Connecticut, in the early 1900s and has remained a staple in New England’s cuisine. Maine lobster shacks typically open just before Memorial Day, so be sure to try one during your visit!
