Founded by Captain Jim Sharp and his wife, Meg, the Sail Power Steam Museum has transformed from a personal collection of maritime artifacts into a thriving hub of nautical history. Located on the historic site of the Old Snow Shipyard, the museum not only celebrates the maritime heritage of Maine but also serves as a reminder of Rockland’s shipbuilding prowess.


Exhibits and Collections

Visitors can explore an extensive collection of boats, steam engines, and maritime memorabilia on a recorded guided tour. Highlights include working boat models, a functioning scale model of a lime kiln, and steam engines that bring the industrial age to life​​. Additionally, the museum houses a wide range of artifacts, from antique steam and gas machinery to a fascinating Foucault pendulum​​.


Day Sails and Sailing Classes
