Handing Over the Keys

On February 5, 2018, we closed on the purchase of the historic Camden Maine Stay Inn. What a momentous day in our lives! Many of you know Roberta and Claudio Latanza — what gracious and fabulous innkeepers they are! My oh my, Peter and I have a legacy to live up to. Bob and Sally Tiereny, whom one of our rooms is named after, first saw the potential to turn our historic home into a luxury bed and breakfast inn in 1983. Following them, Peter Smith, his wife Donny and her twin sister Diana Robson made many more improvements to the Inn (including building the sun porch where we serve breakfast as well as the owner’s quarters in the barn where Peter and I now live). We have a lovely small room named after them, the Smith-Robson room. Next, Robert and Juanita Topper owned the Inn for six years and then sold it to the Latanzas in 2008. The Topper room is now one of our most frequently booked rooms. At breakfast time, you might notice on a wall in the butler’s pantry a wonderful needlepoint picture of a basket of blueberries that Juanita lovingly stitched. Now the stewardship of the Camden Maine Stay Inn has been passed on to the Kessers, two Southerners who have long been in love with Maine. We can’t wait for y’all to come visit us!
